Concerning the protection and defence against forest fires, a variety of texts are available that are specific to the Landes de Gascogne forest; below you will find the primary regulations currently in force.

• order no. 45-852 from 28 April 1945 related to the development of the Landes de Gascogne region
• the 5 November 1945 order defining the limits of the Landes de Gascogne region

• The law for agricultural orientation (art-66) establishes an income tax reduction to improve forest fire prevention financing.
