Communication is a key factor of forest fire prevention, and includes information, education and awareness-raising campaigns that aim to instruct all targeted publics (general public, schoolchildren and students, Aquitaine residents and tourists) about the risks of forest fires and encourage them to adopt "appropriate behaviour" in the forest.
In a context of heightened tourist pressure, it is essential that we set up targeted communication actions. DFCI Aquitaine has an obligation to inform the public and may play a critical role in educating others about the risk of forest fires.
For the past several years, the members of DFCI Aquitaine have communicated via local and national media in order to reach out to as many people as possible, particularly during high-risk periods.
It also participates in awareness-raising days and is studying the possibility of organizing educational days in schools.
